View Funeral WebcastMrs. Lila Lee Jett Haskins, 88, former resident of Hardy Acres and for the past several years residing with her daughter and son-in-law in Smyrna, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Baptist Medical Center in Nashville. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Gary Wedgewood and Aaron Bujnowski officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery in the Culleoka Community. Memorials may be made to Riverside United Methodist Church, 313 6th Avenue, Columbia 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. Born in the Stiversville Community in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late William Henry Jett and Mattie Hardison Jett. She was a 1940 graduate of Culleoka High School and attended Columbia Business College. Mrs. Haskins worked as an accountant for the membership department of the Tennessee Farm Bureau, retiring in December, 1986 after 38 years service. Mrs. Haskins was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church since December 1950. She was active in the work of the United Methodist Women and sang in the Chancel Choir for many years. While making her home with her daughter, she attended Smyrna United Methodist Church when her health allowed. She was a lifetime member and former Queen of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority International; member of the Maury County Historical Society; was active in Loveboat and Ball Club Seniors, and member of the Chairman's Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Edward Haskins, April 22, 1990; an infant sister, Anna Marie Jett; and three brothers, Willie Jett, Jimmie Jett, and Raymond Jett. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Ronald Brewer of Smyrna; a son and daughter-in-law, W. Travis and Ruth Bassett Haskins of Germantown; six grandchildren, Julie (Aaron) Bujnowski of Frisco, Texas; Mollie (Jason) Ward of Smyrna, Trapper (Mandy) Haskins of Altamont, Tennessee; Priscilla Haskins of Germantown, Ronald (Rhonda) Brewer of Smyrna, and Regina Brewer Lindsay of Nashville; nine great-grandchildren, Breanna Bujnowski, Sarah Bujnowski, Kayla Ward, Hannah Ward, Olivia Grace Ward, Piper Haskins, Wyatt Haskins, Matt Hollis, and Michael Clay Brewer. Active pallbearers are Ronald Brewer, Jr., Michael Jett, William Hardison, Jim Stoltz, David Stoltz, Charles Jett, and David Jett. Honorary pallbearers include Ronald Bussell, Robert Brewer, Trapper Haskins, Doug Brewer, Keith Rogers, Keith Metchener, Dr. John Gipson, members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and Chancel Choir at Riverside United Methodist Church, Ann Fox Bryant, Melba Pollard, Virginia Alexander, Virginia Stoltz, Charlene Rogers, Sarah Posey, Lavergne Alexander, and Deborah Cox, caretaker.
