Lillie Mae Skelton Gibson

November 24, 1931 — April 5, 2010

Mrs. Lillie Mae Skelton Gibson, 78, retired from Weather Tamer and former long-time resident of Westover Drive, died Monday, April 5, 2010 at NHC Hillview. Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Polk Memorial Gardens with David Morris officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols. Memorials may be made to the Highland Church of Christ Building Fund, 407 East James M. Campbell Boulevard, Columbia 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Lewis County native was the daughter of the late Albert Harrison Skelton, Sr. and Bessie Ann Fain Skelton. Mrs. Gibson was a charter member of Graymere Church of Christ and taught Sunday School for a number of years. In recent years, her membership was with Highland Church of Christ. She loved flower gardening and sewing. She was married September 6, 1947 to Leonard Virgil Gibson. Mr. Gibson died October 4, 2004. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Sue Dabbs and Florene Duncan, and brothers, J. B. Skelton, Bob Skelton, and Lloyd Skelton. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Ann (Jerry) Wright of Columbia; granddaughter, Ashley Nichole (Jason) Baker of Columbia; great-granddaughter, Kaylee Nichole Baker of Columbia; sisters, Elva Griner of Hohenwald and Dorothy Osborne of Ocala, Florida; brothers, William Skelton, Jack Skelton, and Albert H. Skelton, Jr. all of Hohenwald.
