Lillie Ruth Cain Hughes

Lillie Ruth Cain Hughes, 86, retired salesclerk for K-Mart, died Monday, December 21, 2020 at her residence in Columbia. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday July 24, 2021 at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to the services. Born July 24, 1934 in Boliver County, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Osborne Allen Cain, Sr. and the late Audie Mai Milum Cain. She married Clarence W. Hughes who preceded her in death in 1984. Mrs. Hughes was a member of Graymere Church of Christ. Survivors include her daughters, Sherrie McClure of Frankewing; Gail Brooks of Columbia; daughter-in-law, Freda Higdon Hughes of Columbia; brother, Osborne Allen Cain, Jr. of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Chris (Tiffany) Sharp, Dana Sharp, Heather (Eric) Shore, Andrea (Craig Holt) Carpenter, Justin McClure; great grandchildren, Kayla Massey, Bailey Sharp, John Micheal Sharp, Monica Garner, Brianna Sharp, Haley Sharp, Barrett Shore, Sean Carpenter, Dylan Carpenter, Tristin Begley, Jon Holt, Karlee Holt; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Wendell Cain Hughes; and sister, Mary Lou Sharp. In March of 2021 her son-in-law Kenneth McClure passed away.
