LLOYD M. NORTON Lloyd M. Norton, 73, retired employee of L&N/CSX Railroad, died Friday, August 9, 2002. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 1:30 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Smith officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. Memorials may be made to Glendale United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Steve Secrest, 610 Danrich Drive, Columbia, TN 38401, or 40 & 8 Nursing Scholarship, American Legion Post 19, 812 Nashville Highway Columbia, TN 38401. The Maury County native was the son of the late Floyd M. Norton and Idell French Norton. He was a 1947 graduate of Culleoka High School and graduate of Columbia Business College. He had worked with L&N/CSX Railroad for thirty-nine years as manager of credit and collections. Mr. Norton served in the U. S. Armed Forces during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19 and the 40 & 8. He was an Honorable Kentucky Colonel and a member of Glendale United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of forty-eight years, Jane Tyree Norton of Columbia; four daughters, Mrs. Janet (Marty) Ballard and Mrs. Pam (William) Gullett, both of Louisville, Kentucky; Mrs. Lisa (Danny) Norton Rogers and Mrs. Nancy (Kerry) Federico, both of Jacksonville, Florida; two brothers, Bobby Norton of Columbia; W. F. (Barbara) Norton of Nashville; four sisters, Mrs. Neva (Tom) Graves and Sara Gaines, both of Nashville; Mrs. Mary Paul (Wendell) Lasater of Lewisburg; Mrs. Gayle (Steve) Secrest of Columbia; five grandchildren, Dawn Watson, Chris Ballard, Tabitha Gullett, Grace Rogers, Megan Federico; two great grandchildren, Kelsey Watson and Daniel Ballard; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be his nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Glendale United Methodist Church family, Mrs. & Mrs. R. L. Turner, and members of Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.
