View Video TributeView Funeral WebcastMrs. Lollie Lea Waddey Barnes, 87, longtime resident of the Santa Fe Pike, died Monday, April 28, 2014 at NHC Hillview. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 12:00 noon at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Faith Freewill Baptist Church, 1611 Nashville Highway, Columbia, TN 38401 or Hospice Compassus, 1412 Trotwood Ave., Suite 5, Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born April 29, 1926 in Williamson County she was the daughter of the late John Mildred Waddey and Lila Mai Polk Waddey. She and her husband operated The Village at Neapolis for many years. Mrs. Barnes was a charter member of Faith Freewill Baptist Church. She was a wonderful cook, enjoyed baking cakes, and was devoted to her family. Survivors include her husband of sixty-eight years, Charles Ray Barnes of Columbia; sons, Billy Ray (Frances) Barnes of Columbia, Thomas Neal (Jana) Barnes of Versailles, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Danny (Kim) Barnes, Terry (Gail) Barnes, Laura (Detrea DeHerrera) Barnes, Charles (Michelle) Barnes, Cynthia (Chris) Perkins; five great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brother-in-law, Bobby (Sylvia) Barnes; four sisters-in-law, Margaret Brady, Dot (Vance) Potts, Hazel Adair, Minnie Barnes; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Polly Layne and two brothers, Mark Waddey and James Wade Waddey. Active pallbearers will be J.W. Neal, Doris Watson, Terry Locke, Artie Haskins, Mike Greene and Johnny Moss. Honorary pallbearers include members of Faith Freewill Baptist Church. The family wishes to express appreciation to the staff of NHC Hillview and Hospice Compassus for their care.
