Lonnie Cecil Compton, Sr., 67, owner-operator of Compton's Electric Service and resident of Carter Street, died Monday, October 25, 2010 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Anthony Muston and Rev. Edward Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. Born in Buchanan County, Virginia, he was the son of the late Charlie Clarence Compton and Virginia Marshall Compton Lee. He attended the Baptist Church and was a member of the Columbia Kiwanis Club, Columbia Masonic Lodge #31, Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19, and the Fruit of the Vine. Survivors include three daughters, Beth (Darryl) Judd of Williamsport, Kelly (Al) Sharpton of Columbia, and Missy Floyd of Columbia; a son, Lonnie C. "Bubba" Compton, Jr. of Columbia; grandchildren, Kyle Anderson, Matthew Judd, Dalton Floyd, and Colton Floyd; two sister, Jackie (Haldor) Primm of Columbia Faye Jordan of Columbia; and two brothers, Bill Compton of Lewisburg and Robert (Pat) Compton of Templeton, Ohio; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Ann Sanders Compton May 20, 2006 and a sister, Margaret Mattney. Active pallbearers are Matthew Judd, Kyle Anderson, Dalton Floyd, Colton Floyd, Chris Potts, and Derrick Potts. Honorary pallbearers include Friends at Fraser's Place, Shane Floyd, and Andy Anderson.
