Loyd Earl "Butch" Shults, III, 41, butcher for Kroger Company, died Friday, November 16, 2012 as a result of a fire at his residence on East 17th Street. A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols. The family will visit with friends from 4:00 p.m. to service time at the funeral home. He was born in Peoria, Illinois and a graduate of Gallatin High School in Gallatin, Tennessee. A lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and gardening. Mr. Shults also played the guitar, loved antique cars, and was an avid reader. Survivors include his wife, Karen LeAnne Corbin Shults, whom he married April 18, 2011; mother, Cindy Kay Wiley (Will) Elton of Gallatin; father, Loyd Earl (Becky) Shults, Jr. of Equality, Illinois; sons, Taylor Shults and Joseph Toombs of McKinney, Texas; maternal grandmother, Anne Wiley of Weslaco, Texas; sisters, Lisa Crowder of Gallatin and Sara Shults of Harrisburg, Illinois; brother, Nathan Shults of Equality, Illinois; several nieces and nephews. His beloved pets, "Roo" and "Bear" were also lost in the fire.
