View Video TributeView Funeral Service WebcastMrs. Mattie Lucille Russell Haywood, 79, died Monday, November 28, 2011 at her residence on Greenview Drive. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Knob Creek Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Hezekiah Russell and Mattie Wilson Russell. She was a 1952 graduate of Central High School. On January 31, 1953 she married Harold Marshall Haywood who preceded her in death April 29, 2006. Mrs. Haywood was a homemaker who enjoyed quilting and fishing earlier in her life. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her daughter, Kathy (Marvin) Emler of Culleoka; son, Hal (Billie Gaye) Haywood of Culleoka; sister, Mary Byrd of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Charity (Carlton) Baker of Columbia, Chris Haywood, Jessica Emler and Victoria Haywood all of Culleoka; and four great-grandchildren, Kanya Baker, Breanna Baker, C.J. Baker and Courtney Crane. She was preceded in death by a sister, Bobbie Ruth Phillips and two brothers, William "Buddy" Russell and Frank Russell. Active pallbearers will be Chris Haywood, Mike Haywood, Carlton Haywood, Bobby Joe Haywood, Korey Cooper, and Ray Crane. Honorary pallbearers will be Barry Byrd, Frank Russell, Michael Russell, Dr. Jon Freels, Dr. Ben Gardner and Dr. Janice Vinson.
