View Funeral WebcastLucille Martin Pruitt, 83, retired seamstress, died Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at her residence on Haley Lane. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. William Owens and Rev. Ricky Bowden officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, 2200 Children's Way, Nashville, TN 37232. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Willie P. Martin and Hester Phillips Martin Potts. On July 19, 1950 she married Rev. Donald Pruitt and they celebrated sixty-four years of marriage. Mrs. Pruitt had worked at Dixie Manufacturing II, Lowenthal Manufacturing and retired from Tennessee Knitting Mill. She enjoyed flower gardening; but her greatest passion was caring for children. She loved babysitting many children through the years and was especially fond of the time spent with her grandchildren. She was a member of House of Prayer Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Sherrie (John) Williams of Pulaski; sons, Mike (Melody) Pruitt of Mt. Pleasant; Ronnie (Darlene) Pruitt and Ricky (Shirley) Pruitt, both of Columbia; grandchildren, Marty Pruitt of Nashville; Eddie Pruitt of Atlanta, Georgia; Jeremey (Sarah) Wood of Estill Springs; Angela (Curt) Alsup of Minor Hill, and Elizabeth Dixon of Collinwood; great grandchildren, Madison Alsup, Alexia Wood, Elijah Wood, Harley Grace Alsup, and Marshal Alsup; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Roger Don Pruitt; sisters, Ann Bryan and Mai Ferrell; and three brothers, Howard Phillips, Billy Martin, and Perry Martin. Active pallbearers will be John Williams, Curt Alsup, Burl Ferrell, Wayne Harvey, Len Harvey, and Clint Blankenship. Honorary pallbearers include Walter Martin, Ted Pratt, Henry Bray, and members of House of Prayer Baptist Church.
