Lucille Hobbs Springer, 93, resident of Spainwood Street, died Monday, May 28, 2012 at NHC Hillview. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. David Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Grady Hobbs and Cornelia Richardson Hobbs and spent her early life in the Culleoka Community. She graduated from Culleoka High School where she played on the basketball team. Later, she graduated from Columbia Business College and also taught at the school for several years. Mrs. Springer was a faithful member of Riverside United Methodist Church for many years. Survivors include her husband, James Louis Springer, Sr., whom she married June 14, 1941; daughter, Lucy Jane (Pat) Murchison of Soddy Daisy; son, James Louis (Jane) Springer, Jr. of Columbia; sister, Nell (Robert) Sweeney of Gardendale, Alabama; grandchildren, Tanya Springer, Holly (David) Kulp, Karen (Robert) Morris, and Jeff Murchison; great-grandchildren, Rachel Morris, J. W. Kulp, Sam Kulp, and Ruby Kulp; nieces, Peggy Dunn of Morris, Alabama, Kitty Keever Case of Ft. Worth, Texas, Judy Keever Hall of Finley, Ohio, Charlotte Smith of Soddy Daisy; nephews, Billy Springer, David Keever, and Kevin Springer; sisters-in-law, Marie Springer and Nell Springer. She was preceded in death by a sister, Connie (Jim) Keever and a brother, Everette Hobbs Serving as active pallbearers are Pat Murchison, Jeff Murchison, Bob Morris, Mark Hall, John Markham, and Johnny case. Members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class at Riverside United Methodist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
