Mr. Luther Cooper "L.C." Gardner, 85, retired self-employed concrete contractor and resident of Poplar Estates in Columbia, died Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday at 3:00 P.M. at Maple Springs Baptist Cemetery in Reliance, Tennessee with Vernon Webb officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee. Born January 9, 1931 in Monroe County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Edgar Gardner and Rebecca Spurling Gardner. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Gardner enjoyed farming. Survivors include his daughters, Rebecca Kay (Donald) Geving of Spring Hill, Brenda Fay (Dieter) Ginnette of Manchester, Sharon Rose Herrod of Murfreesboro; sons, Luther Cooper (Jackie) Gardner, Jr. of Lascassus, Donald Edward (Donna) Gardner of Lebanon; sister, Juanita (Junior) Ferry of Madisonville; brothers, Herby Gardner and Floyd Gardner both of Madisonville; grandchildren, Dora Mae Geving, Eric Geving, Elyse Herrod, Devon Gardner, Brooke Roberts, and Brandy Hankins; great granddaughters, Ava Hankins and Kailee Byrd.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by infant son, Ronald "Ronnie" Gardner; siblings, Enos Gardner, Ethel Kilby, Marie Cain, Frankie Gardner, Arnold Gardner, Betty Jo Gardner, and Edna Gardner.
