View Funeral WebcastAlbert Mabron Scott, 63, owner of Scott's Carpets and resident of West 9th Street, died Sunday, October 25, 2009 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at First United Pentecostal Church with Pastor Telford Tharp, Dr. Henry M. Mobley, Rev. Roger Dale White, and Rev. Jason Kyser officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials may be made to First United Pentecostal Church, 955 Baker Road, Columbia 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. Born in Lauderdale County, Alabama, he was the son of the late Joe Mabron Scott, Jr. and Helen Elizabeth Jones Scott and was a 1965 graduate of Rogers High School in Greenhill, Alabama. Survivors include his wife, Doris Casteel Scott of Columbia; children, Greg (Katie) Scott, Candice Scott (Chris) Adkins, and Matt (Jillian) Scott; grandchildren; Zach (fiancée Courtney Sujovic) Scott, Sara Owens, and Harlin Owens; beloved Pets, Cocoa and Pooh; sisters, Wanda (Guy) Golliver of Greenhill, Alabama and Charlotte (Robert) Beavers of Lexington, Alabama; brother, Gary (Donna) Scott of Florence, Alabama; special aunts, Bonnie Scott of Chattanooga and Lessie Mae White of Greenhill, Alabama; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Joseph "Mike"Scott. Active pallbearers are Harlin Owens, Zach Scott, Ricky Turner, Jeff Golliver, Jay Golliver, Joey Golliver, Tim McKennon, and Ralph Spann. Honorary pallbearers include Dodson's Grocery coffee drinkers, past and current patrons and employees of Scott's Carpets, and Vanderbilt Neurology ICU Staff.
