View Funeral Webcast Mrs. Margaret Alice Frakes Lacy, formerly of Oakwood Drive, died at the age of ninety-nine on December 5, 2015 at Hollander Assisted Living in Atlanta, Georgia. A memorial service will be conducted Thursday, December 10th at 3:00 P.M. at First United Methodist Church with Houston Parks, Reverend Chip Hunter, and Reverend Melinda Britt officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 2:00 - 3:00 P.M. in the church atrium. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements. The Columbia native was the eldest child of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ewing Henry Frakes, Sr. She graduated from Columbia Central High School in 1935 and attended Huntingdon College, the University of Tennessee and Peabody College. She married Chancelor E. Lacy of Mt. Pleasant in 1938. They retired in Columbia in 1979 where she was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class, a member of the Mitsis Club, the James K. Polk Memorial Association, the Guided Circle Chapter, and the Board of The King's Daughters School. Mrs. Lacy was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Alice (Ronald) Wareham of Atlanta, Georgia, four grandchildren- Anna (Joseph) Koon of Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, Nancy (Raymond) Coskery of Woodstock, Georgia, Brad (Emily) Wareham of Asheville, North Carolina, and Randall (Mary Joyce) Wareham of Atlanta, Georgia; five great grandchildren- Virginia and Benjamin Coskery, Avery and Chancelor Wareham, Harper Wareham and by her sister-in-law Frances Frakes of Greenville, Alabama; as well as her beloved nieces and nephews.
