Margaret Gail Parson Marshall, age 79, a lifelong resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, June 27, 2025.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, June 30th at 11:00 AM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Joe Copolo. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Known simply as “Gail” to just about everyone, her life was a beautiful reflection of love, strength, and the kind of kindness that leaves a lasting mark. She was born on November 18, 1945, in the Cross Bridges community of Maury County to the late Margaret Edith Pitts Parson and the late AB Parson, who lovingly raised her as his own.
In the mid 1970s, Gail met Richard Earl Marshall, and together they built a life rooted in love and family. Their sons, Richie and Jeremy, were the pride of her heart, but nothing brought her more joy than being “Nanny” to her grandchildren.
Her kitchen was the heart of her home—always warm, always welcoming. Whether she was baking cupcakes, cooking supper after school, or fixing someone’s favorite dish just because, Gail shared her love through every meal. She also found joy in life’s simple pleasures: fishing, camping, and road trips through Amish country to hand pick fresh vegetables for her next recipe.
In her quiet moments, Gail enjoyed watching her game shows and westerns. She also loved working word search puzzles and staying busy with craft projects that showed her creativity and care.
Gail is survived by her former husband and longtime companion, Richard Earl Marshall; her sons, Richard Earl “Richie” (Melanie) Marshall II and Jeremy Brent (Tammy) Marshall; grandsons, Colton E. Marshall, Richard Ty Marshall (Maddie Tate), and Jeremy Ray “J.R.” Marshall; two granddaughters; step-grandchildren, Keanndra Wood, Sekantra Clark, and Alexander Clark; and several extended family members.
The family would like to thank the kind folks at Fresenius Kidney Care of Columbia for the love and care they showed Gail along the way.
