Margaret Hughes Talley

Margaret Talley, 79, of Cayce Valley Drive, Columbia, TN, died Jan 28, 2013 at Maury Regional Hospital after an extended illness. She was the daughter of the late Ruby Scott Hughes and Hugh Lloyd Hughes. She was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Churchwell of Columbia. She is survived by her husband, Joe, a sister, Vivian Kennedy of Fort Myers, FL, a son Stephen Talley (Jeanne) of Spring Hill; and a stepson Terry Talley (Tessa) of Cane Ridge TN; grandson, John Thomas Talley(Stephen); Niece Kathy Fountain of Fort Myers FL; and four nephews, Scott and Bruce Churchwell of Columbia and Bill and Richard Kennedy of Fort Myers, FL. Margaret graduated from Columbia Central High in 1952 where she was voted Sweetheart of CHS. She attended the University of Kentucky and soon began what would be her life's profession as a legal secretary and later became an executive secretary with State of Tennessee Circuit Court system in the 22nd Judicial District, working with several judges and her peers in the Middle TN area. Margaret was a longtime member of Graymere Church of Christ, and was an avid sports fan. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Wendell Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 12 noon until time of service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be: Joe Delk, Roy Cathey, Jimmy Couch, Judge Robert Jones, Dr. Robert C. Wilhite and Thomas Taylor. Honorary Pallbearers will be current and retired Judges and employees of the 22nd Judicial District Circuit Court as well as Roger and Pamela Workman.
