View Funeral Webcast Part 1View Funeral Webcast Part 2Margaret Parr Wilburn, 93, resident of Harris Street, died Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Graymere Church of Christ with John Vaughan, Wendell Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols and Monday from 1:00 p.m. to service time at the church. Notes of condolence may be extended at oakesandnichols.com. The Alabama native was the daughter of the late William Andrew Parr and Margaret Armstrong Parr. She graduated from Lawrence County High School in Moulton, Alabama and Montevallo State College for Women with a B.S. degree in Secretarial Science. She married Charles Ward Wilburn May 21, 1948. Their 59-year marriage ended with his death November 3, 2007. Prior to her marriage, she worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority in Knoxville. Mrs. Wilburn was a faithful member of Graymere Church of Christ since 1986. Active in numerous programs of the church, she taught Bible classes to toddler children and teens at Graymere; taught Ladies Bible Classes for sixteen years at Whitehaven Church of Christ in Memphis, as well as two and one-half years at Graymere. Other activities included working in the serving program at Tennessee Children's Home and the Meals on Wheels program, volunteering with the outreach or clothes program since 1992 and "give away day" since its inception. Mrs. Wilburn participated in a Graymere Mission Trip to Honduras and a Whitehaven Mission Trip to Missoula, Montana. She enjoyed playing tennis and played golf regurlarly until the age of eighty-eight. Survivors include her sons, Dr. Charles Douglas (Beth) Wilburn of Columbia and Stephen Andrew (Cheryl) Wilburn of Kingwood, Texas; daughter, Margaret Lynn Wilburn of Brentwood; grandchildren, Aaron (Little Star) Wilburn of Chattanooga, Dr. Lauren Wilburn of Franklin, Neil Wilburn of Nashville, Lindsey Wilburn and Kellie Wilburn of Kingwood, Texas; great-grandson, Ryder Wilburn; great-granddaughter, Railey Wilburn; a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Wilma Suzanne Wilburn; sisters, Josephine Smith, Wilma Ruth Parr, and Emma Jean Hallmark; and brother, L. A. Parr. Active pallbearers include Aaron Wilburn, Neil Wilburn, Tony Sowell, David Parr, James Meadows, Jonathan Winchester, and Roger Riddle. Honorary pallbearers include Elders and Deacons of Graymere Church of Christ, Eddie Harris, Nick Nicholas, and Robert Waddell.
