View Funeral WebcastMrs. Mariam Alta Johnson Ash Agent, 82, resident of Columbia, died Thursday, February 25, 2010 at NHC Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Swango officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late James Williamson Johnson and Viola Mildred Collins Johnson. She was first married to Merrill Ash who preceded her in death November 10, 1982 then later married Joe Alford Agent who preceded her in death November 20, 1991. Mrs. Agent was employed in hotel management with Wedgewood Towers and the Polk Motel. She was a member of Loyal Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include two sisters, Nola Benderman Martindale and Doris Jean Johnson both of Columbia and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, George W. Johnson, Carlton Douglas Johnson, Mahlon McClain Johnson, Ray Andrews Johnson and two sisters, Dorothy Mae Himes and Wilma Roberta Turner. Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Loyal Chapel Freewill Baptist Church and the staff of NHC Columbia.
