View Funeral Webcast Marion Lewis McMillion, 83, resident of Quality Street in Culleoka, went to sleep with the Lord on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Signature Health Care. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Corey Bell officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday after 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences to the family may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. A native of the Pigeon Roost Community of Giles County, he was the son of the late Herman McMillion and Lizzie Thomas McMillion. He attended Sullivan School and Haylong Grammar School. As a young boy he delivered groceries in Mt. Pleasant and earned the nickname "Lightning". In the early 1960's he was a volunteer mechanic for the Maury County Civil Air Force. During his career he was a longtime mechanic at White's Wrecker Service, Tennessee Valley Authority and retired from Barr Motor Company. Since his retirement he enjoyed working on lawn mowers and watching Western movies. Mr. McMillion was a member of Culleoka Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife of forty-eight years, Dorothy "Dot" Veach McMillion of Culleoka; niece, Paulette (Mike) Anderson of Culleoka; nephews, Ricky (Joy) Nelson, Frankie Nelson both of Columbia, Gene McMillion of Gatlinburg; brothers-in-law, Tony Collier of Culleoka, Charlie (Amy) Collier of Enterprise; and several great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Vernie McMillion and sisters, Gail Smith, Edna Vandiver, Nina Nelson, Jenny McMillion, Minnie McMillion and his twin sister, Mary McMillion. Active pallbearers include Tony Collier, Trey Collier, Mike Anderson, Michael Anderson, James Barr and Gene Barr. Honorary pallbearers will be past and present employees of Barr Motor Company and the elders at Culleoka Church of Christ.
