Martha Murphy Craig, 85, retired seamstress and resident of Randlin Drive in Culleoka, died Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Hueston Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery. Born August 6, 1926 in the Darks Mill Community of Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Murphy and Nora Davis Murphy. She attended Darks Mill School, Whitthorne Junior High and Columbia Central High School. On January 12, 1943 she married Gene Thomas Craig who preceded her in death on September 11, 2000. Throughout her many years of factory employment, Mrs. Craig had worked at Dixie Manufacturing, Lee Charles Manufacturing, and Storktown. Mrs. Craig loved knitting, crocheting, crafting, and making quilts. She also enjoyed camping, but most of all just being a mother and grandmother. She was a member of Westview Church of Christ and attended Culleoka Church of Christ. Survivors include her children, Marie (Nelson) Huey and Carolyn Hight, both of Columbia; Dottie (Ray) Morrow of Culleoka; Tommy (Cindy) Craig of Santa Fe; seven grandchildren, Sherri (Jeff) Richardson, Danny Starling, Marty (Mary) Hight, Michelle Jones, Misty Swanson, Michael Hight, Tara Hight, Randy (Tracey) Huey, Steve Huey, Mike (Jennifer) Goldman, Peyton Craig; sixteen great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, William Robert Lee Murphy and John Leslie Murphy, two step-brothers, Doug Harris and Howard Harris; son-in-law, Lloyd Hight.
