View Video TributeView Funeral Webcast Martha Alice Stone Wilson, 88, retired insurance agent and long-time resident of Sowell Mill Pike, died Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. at South Gate Church of Christ with Brian Gregory, Joe Macer, and John Thomas officiating. Two of her grandsons, Sam Quirk and Jeff Wilson will lead congregational singing. Burial will follow in McCains Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 3:00 pm. to service time at South Gate Church of Christ. It is suggested that memorials be made to South Gate Church of Christ Building Fund, 2700 Pulaski Highway, Columbia, TN 38401. Notes of sympathy may be extended at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Frank Walker Stone, Sr. and Alice Lucile Cotton Stone. A 1944 graduate of Columbia Central High School, she was a member of and played trumpet in the first Central High School Band. She also was a majorette and was elected Secretary of the CHS Student Body her Senior year. After graduation, she attended Columbia Business College and married James Doak "Jim" Wilson August 27, 1944. Mrs. Wilson owned and operated Martha Wilson Insurance Agency for several years and was a former member of the Columbia Chamber of Commerce. An avid interest in collecting antiques turned into a business enterprise as an appraiser and operator of Wilson's Antiques. She was a member of South Gate Church of Christ, charter member of Eastside Church of Christ, and taught children's Sunday School classes for a number of years. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she is survived by her husband, James Doak "Jim" Wilson of Columbia. Wednesday, August 27, 2014 would have marked their 70th wedding anniversary. Also surviving are a daughter, Anna Wilson (Jimmy) Quirk of Columbia; sons, Tom (Pam) Wilson and Jerry Doak (Peggy) Wilson, both of Columbia; sister, Irene Stevenson of Pulaski; grandchildren, Kasey (Barry) Cross, Kristy Wilson, Jeffrey Doak (Mary Beth) Wilson, Beth Ann Wilson, Tommy Wilson, and Sam Quirk; great-grandchildren, Brett Wilson, Rachel Cross, Kate Cross, Morgan Wilson, Julia Wilson, Sarah Grace Cross, and Abbey Wilson; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Bradley Wilson Quirk; and brother, Frank Walker Stone, Jr. The family wishes to express appreciation to her caregivers, Carolyn Curry and Tracy Mosley for their loving care and concern during her illness. Active pallbearers are Jeffrey Doak Wilson, Tommy Wilson, Sam Quirk, Barry Cross, Brett Wilson, and Howard Stone. Honorary pallbearers include Elders and Deacons of South Gate Church of Christ, Peggy and Bill Jones, Sharon and Donnie Davis, James Deen, Carolyn Curry, and Tracy Mosley
