View Video TributeMr. Marvin "Bill" Duncan, 81, resident of Seventh Avenue, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. David McGregor officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Maury Regional Health Care Foundation, 1224 Trotwood Avenue, Columbia, Tennessee, 38401. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Giles County native was the son of the late Marvin M. Duncan and Annie Ruth Carpenter Dixon. On December 6, 1952 he married Sara Frances Tice Duncan of Columbia and together they enjoyed sixty wonderful years of marriage. Mr. Duncan served in the National Guard and retired from Tennessee Farm Bureau as maintenance supervisor after thirty years of employment. He was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and was a member of McCains Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In addition to his wife survivors include his daughter, Connie Lynn Duncan (Allen) Lentz of Columbia; son, William Daniel "Danny" (Tracy) Duncan of Culleoka; brother, Carl (Barbara) Duncan of Oceanside, California; grandchildren, Crystal Lentz (Kirk) Butler of Manchester, Wesley Allen (fiancée, Kali Thurman) Lentz of Pell City, Alabama; great-grandchild, Norah Elizabeth Butler of Manchester; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Yeager and Margaret Vandiver. Pallbearers will be Joe Wade, Tommy Cook, Richard Paulk, Larry Yeager, David Harris, Dan Wheeler and Anthony Hardison.
