Mary Ruth Roberts Cochran, 85, retired seamstress and resident of the Sawdust Community, died Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Life Care Center of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Wendell Ragsdale officiating. Burial will follow in Anderson, Stephenson, Hunt Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born June 6, 1929 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Alfonzo Roberts and Sarah Louise Berry Roberts. She was a 1948 graduate of Columbia Central High School. Mrs. Cochran loved working as a seamstress at Maury Manufacturing, WeatherTamer and WACO Knit. She served as Past Secretary of Central Tennessee Fox Hunters Association for sixteen years. She was a member of Arkland Church of Christ and will be remembered as being very kind and gracious by all who knew her. Survivors include her husband of sixty-seven years, Robert Edward "Tater" Cochran of Sawdust Community; daughter, Donna Randolph of Columbia; son, Robert Dennis Cochran of Hohenwald; sister, Mary Ernestine (Don) Galbreath of Culleoka; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and special neighbors, the Ackley and Blalock families. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Clara Mae "Tootsie" Delk and Mable Roberts. Active pallbearers will be Donald Galbreath, Glenn Voss, Chris Carrington, Bryant "Bubba" Galbreath, Hunter Ketchum, and Wendell Ketchum. Honorary pallbearers will include members of Arkland Church of Christ.
