Mary Louise Gentry Sandlin Dies, 85, resident of Crofton Park Drive, died Thursday, November 6, 2014 at NHC Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Sadler officiating. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Nashville. The family will visit with friends Monday from 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Davidson County native was the daughter of the late James David "J.D." Gentry and Luna Belle Vernon Gentry. She was first married to Livie Lonzo Sandlin who preceded her in death in 1955 and later married Harold Duncan Dies who also preceded her in death in 2000. Mrs. Dies worked as a secretary for several years in her family's business, J. D. Gentry Trucking. At its close, she was employed in the Admissions Office at Central State Hospital. She believed in working hard and keeping a clean home. Her life was centered around her children and grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She was a longtime member of Vultee Church of Christ in Nashville and had more recently attended Fourth Avenue Church of Christ in Franklin. Survivors include her sons, David (Leigh Ann) Sandlin of Centerville; Eddie (Lana) Sandlin of Christiana; Pat (Grace) Sandlin of Cordova; grandchildren, Stephanie (Jimmy) Adcock, John Dwayne Sandlin, Stace Murphy, Elisabeth (Hunter) Maynard, William Sandlin, Sophie Sandlin; step grandchildren, William Wessels, Jeremy Wessels, Marcy Jenkins, Katie Ladd; great grandchildren, Trey Adcock, Elizabeth Adcock, Chase Murphy, Conner Murphy, Hunter Maynard, Jr., Harding Maynard; step great grandchildren, Faith Jenkins, Madilyn Gossett, Chloe Wessels; sister-in-law, Bobbie Jean Gentry; cousins, Charles (Margaret) Gentry, Jean Mangrum, Martha Waggoner, Mary Ruth Hurburt, Cathern Foster; and niece, Rosemary Green. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Tony Gentry and Billy Gentry. Active pallbearers will be Trey Adcock, Chase Murphy, Conner Murphy, Jim Patterson, William Sandlin, and Danny Whitaker.
