Mrs. Mary Louise Roberts Helton, 93, long time resident of Columbia, died Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Signature Health Care. Funeral services will be conducted at 2p.m. Sunday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Gilly Andrews officiating. Burial will follow in Haynes Cemetery. The Marshall County native was the daughter of the late James Everett Roberts and Ada Mae Andrews Roberts. She was a graduate of Bryant Station School and was married to James Marshall Helton, Sr. who preceded her in death in 1952. Mrs. Helton was retired from Taylor's Laundry. She enjoyed homemaking and cooking and was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Janey (Lonnie) Clark-Wells of Louisville, Kentucky; two sons, James M. (Carol) Helton of Chapel Hill, John Neal (Judy) Helton of Culleoka; a sister, Virgie Milum of Smithland, Kentucky; two granddaughters, Shannon (Shane) Alexander, Melissa Potts; and two grandsons, Tony Clark, Johnny (Teresa) Helton; eight great grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Rena Mai Roberts, Patricia Andrews Roberts, Estell Milum, Edna Carpenter and two brothers, James Everett Roberts, Jr. and Andrew Thomas Roberts. Pallbearers will be family and friends, Billy Milum, Johnny Arnold, Earl Buchanan, Tony Clark, Johnny Helton, Tommy Hedrick, Ronnie Hedrick and Joe Frank Hedrick.
