Mary Jane Knox Miles

Mrs. Mary Jane Knox Miles, 87, a retired medical technologist with Maury Regional Medical Center and resident of Culleoka, died Friday, September 3, 2021 at Williamson Medical Center. A graveside service for Mrs. Miles will be conducted Saturday, September 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Murfreesboro with Rev. Sherard Edington officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Blackman UMC in Murfreesboro. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. Born on November 21, 1933, she was the daughter of the late William Claude Knox and the late Ernestine Elizabeth Patton Knox. Mrs. Miles graduated from Isaac Litton High School in Nashville, attended Tennessee Tech, and received her Associates Degree from Columbia State. On August 29, 1953 she married Murray Thomas Miles, Jr. who preceded her in death on September 13, 2017. Together they loved traveling as they visited all 50 states and numerous countries. She was a member of Columbia First Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon and was active in Presbyterian Women. She is survived by her children, Nancy (Mike) Berry of Johnson City; Patsy (Mark) Bridges of Culleoka, Mary Brainerd of Murfreesboro, and Sally (Tony) Boals of Signal Mountain; ten grandchildren, Julie (Charles) Thomas, Leslie (Brent) Steele, John Bridges, Will Bridges, Anna Brainerd, Ben (Kenley) Brainerd, Thomas Boals, Janie Boals, Sara Beck Boals, and Annie Boals; four great-grandchildren, Eva and Caroline Thomas, Abigail and Jack Steele; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carrie Knox, Pal and Ernestine Hawkins, Jay Martin, Kenneth and Janet Miles; cousin, Sandra Buzzard and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Knox. The family suggests memorials be made to First Presbyterian Church, Woodlee Memorial Youth Camp, NaCoMe Conference Center or a charity of your choice.
