Mary Ellen Puckett Sneed, age 73, a resident of Columbia, passed away peacefully at her residence on April 23, 2026.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Riverside United Methodist Church with Rev. David Spencer officiating. The family will visit with friends on Monday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home and again on Tuesday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the church. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Riverside United Methodist Church, 313 6th Avenue, Columbia, TN 38401.
Mary was born on October 17, 1952 in South Carolina to the late Willie Ed Puckett, Jr. and the late Fannie Mae Warpool Puckett. She was united in marriage to Ronald Lee Sneed on October 1, 1976, sharing nearly 50 years of love and devotion.
A dedicated and compassionate caregiver, Mary retired as a nurse from Maury Regional Medical Center after 47 years of service. She was a faithful member of Riverside United Methodist Church, where she actively participated in both the choir and the hand bell choir. She was a graduate of the nursing program at the University of Tennessee at Nashville.
Mary enjoyed traveling, especially trips to the beach and the lake, but above all, she cherished time spent with her family. She was also a devoted fan of the University of Tennessee.
She is survived by her loving husband, Ronald Lee Sneed of Columbia; two sons, Tyler Sneed (Kate) of Columbia and Corey Ramser (Daniel) of Columbia; sister, Patty Vieira of Nashville; and two grandchildren, Leah Montgomery and Charlie Sneed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Brown, and a brother, Marshall Puckett.
Pallbearers will be Bradford Vieira, Jonathan Vieira, Johnny Earwood, Jack Sneed, Scott Sanders, Gary Woody, and Duston Tate. Honorary pallbearers will be the Columbia Central High School Class of 1965, members of Riverside United Methodist Church, and Donald Sneed.
The family extends a special thanks to Gentiva Hospice and Dr. Andrew Nielsen for their compassionate care.
