Mary Pruette Simmons

View Funeral Webcast Mary Alice Pruette Simmons, 88, retired private duty sitter, died Saturday, November 15, 2014 at her residence on Mooresville Pike. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Greg Daimwood officiating. Burial will follow in Sheboss Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of condolence may be extended at oakesandnichols.com. Born in Hickman County, she was the daughter of the late McKinley Pruette and Elizabeth Montgomery Pruette. Mrs. Simmons was a long-time member of Ephesus Church of Christ. Her husband, Richard Simmons, died August 11, 1989. Survivors include her son, Randall Simmons of Columbia; granddaughter, Linda (Steven) Lovell of Columbia; and great-granddaughter, Allison Clark. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley King, sister, Lennie (Roy) Pruitt, and grandson, Herbert Riley. Active pallbearers are Steven Lovell, John Riley, Pete Ridley, Wayne Voss, Doug Andrews, and Michael Quinn. Honorary pallbearers include members of Ephesus Church of Christ, nurses and staff of NHC Home Health and NHC Hillview, Dr. Stephen Simmons and Dr. Houston Jameson and staffs.
