View Video TributeView Funeral WebcastMrs. Mary Ruth Cannady Williams, 86, retired seamstress, died Saturday, July 6, 2013 at her residence on Lynnwood Drive. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with David Davidson officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. A native of the Campbell Station Community, she was the daughter of the late Robert Frank Cannady and Hassie Pearl Weatherford Cannady. On April 20, 1946, she married William Thomas Williams who preceded her in death on January 16, 1995. She loved her family and was affectionately known as "Maw" by all of them. Mrs. Williams had formerly worked at WeatherTamer and retired from Dixie Manufacturing. She was an avid fan of "The Bonus Sponsor" on WMCP radio and actually won the prize one time. Survivors include three daughters, Nancy Hooks and Kathy (Jack) Price, both of Columbia; Linda Morton of Hampshire; two sons, Al (Barbara) Williams and Jeff Williams, both of Columbia; grandchildren; Tracy (Gerald) Mims, Kelly (Danny) Stinnett, and Ronald Morton, all of Hampshire; Julie (Dustin) Lewis of Duck River; Kim (Dwight) Woodard of Jackson; Christie (Tim) Dickey of Mt. Pleasant; Brandon Williams, Amy Hooks, Jill Williams and Cammy Williams, all of Columbia; fourteen great grandchildren; one brother, Barney Cannady of Culleoka; two sisters, Evelyn Hickman and Valda Cannady, both of Culleoka. She was preceded in death by a son, Rickey Williams; grandson, Nathaniel Chapman; and brothers, Joe Cannady and Frank S. Cannady. Pallbearers will be Gerald Mims, Danny Stinnett, Dustin Lewis, Ronald Morton, Brandon Williams, Tim Dickey, Dwight Woodard, and Will Mims.
