Matthew Wayne Hight, 28, died Saturday, September 23, 2023, at his residence in Columbia.

 

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Chaplain David C. Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.

 

Born January 27, 1995, in Maury County, he was the son of Felix Gene Hight and Julie Marie Crain Hight. Matthew was a certified heating and cooling technician and worked in lawn care in the past. He enjoyed fishing, dirt bikes and hunting. Matthew was of the Baptist faith and had attended Friendship Baptist Church and Parkway Baptist Church.

 

In addition to his parents Gene and Julie Hight of Columbia, survivors include his brother, John Hight of Columbia; paternal grandmother, Bettie Hight of Columbia; aunts, Tammy Tuttle of Franklin; Lydia (Bobby) Bradley of Columbia; his special buddy, Ozzy The Rock Star Hight; and several cousins.

 

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Reverend Wayne Hight; maternal grandparents, Wayne and Shirley Crain; uncle and aunt, Dwayne and Rhonda Crain; and aunt, Rebecca Jean Crain.

 

Active pallbearers will be David Adams, John Michael Adams, Tyler Crain, Tate Crain, Drew Lewis, and Kevin “Bonehead” Ingram.
