Maudie Hickman Cates

Mrs. Maudie Lee Hickman Cates, 84, homemaker and resident of Lee Drive, died Sunday, January 24, 2016 at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with her grandson Walter Cates officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday after 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Robert Samuel Hickman and Hattie Jane Chapman Hickman. She enjoyed working puzzle books, going to yard sales, watching "The Walton's", and especially enjoyed spending time with grandchildren. Survivors include her daughters, Linda (Jimmy) Pierce of Mt. Pleasant, and Sheila (Kevin) Hutton of Columbia; ten grandchildren; and, eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death sons, Terry Cates, Jimmy Davis, Villie Cates, and David Cates; daughters, Robbie Jackson, and Mary Lou Cates; grandchild, Regina Davis; brothers, Robert Hickman, William Hickman, and Raymond Hickman. Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include Dr. Bruchard and his staff, the staff of Maury Regional Medical Center, and Dr. John Kendrick.
