View Video TributeView Funeral Webcast Maury Ralph Voss, 88, retired inspector for Union Carbide Corporation and resident of Scott Hollow Road in the Culleoka Community, died Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with David Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors at graveside provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 12:00 noon to service time. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Bethel Voss and Lizzie Region Voss. During World War II he served in the U. S. Navy from 1943 - 1945 aboard the Naval Destroyer, USS Whitehurst in the Pacific Theatre of Operation and was awarded The Purple Heart. Mr. Voss was a member of Highland Church of Christ for many years, Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19, and Chapter 22 of Disabled American Veterans. He was an avid sports enthusiast and loved tending to his garden. His wife of 45 years, Mildred Prince Voss, died March 14, 1993. Survivors include a sister, Ruth Voss Nichols of Saginaw, Michigan; brothers, Kenneth (Frances) Voss of Cross Bridges and Fred (Yvonne) Voss of Hampshire; devoted and special friend, Jo Lyles Waggoner of Culleoka; sisters-in-law, Sue Voss of Williamsport and Juanita Voss of Columbia; brother-in-law, Ernest (Patricia) Prince of Culleoka; several nieces and nephews; and beloved rescued cat, "Callie." He was preceded in death by a sisters, Edith Voss Ladd, Grace Voss Brown, Beatrice Voss Johnson and Pauline Brown Voss; brothers, Paul Voss and Howard Voss. Active pallbearers are Jason Lyles, Norris Johnson, James Cox, Huey Smith, Brandon Voss, Corey Prince, and Mike Cox. Honorary pallbearers include Curtis Riley, Ray Braden, Edward Lyles, and Union Carbide Corporation retirees.
