View Graveside WebcastMrs. Mavis Brown Morrison Jones, 62, self-employed Custom Home Builders and resident of Beechcroft Road in Spring Hill, died Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at Vanderbilt Medical Center. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Spring Hill Memorial Park with Rev. Bob Adair, Jonathan Jones, and Rev. William C. Martin officiating. The family will visit with friends Saturday after 3:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Joe Morrison and Rebecca Brown Morrison. She was a graduate of Hampshire High School. Mrs. Jones was a seventeen year member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 19 and served as its president in 2003. She represented her unit and the State of Tennessee as the "Member of the Year" at the National Convention in 2000. She served on many committees in the American Legion Auxiliary, but her greatest joy was in helping the veterans in the Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation Program. Her efforts resulted in many national awards including the National President's Award for Excellence. She served and gave many hours of service as the State Representative on the York VA Medical Center Volunteer Advisory Board. She was a member of La Societe De Femme Cabane 1394 and served as its local President in 2002 and later as the State President. She was a member of Cedar Hill Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband of forty-three years, George Jones of Spring Hill; two sons, Wayne (Jennifer) Jones and Michael (Dana) Jones, both of Mt. Pleasant; one grandchild, Brianna Jones of Mt. Pleasant; one sister, Linda (David) Jones of Hampshire; and one niece, Kenda (Stacey) Polk of Hampshire. Pallbearers will be Robert McAdams, Joe Foster, Calvin Cheek, Donny Walters, Danny Lasater, Earl Pettus, James Patterson, and Larry Hann. Honorary pallbearers will be members of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 19, La Societe De Femme Cabane 1394, American Legion Post 19, and Guy.
