Maxie Agent Haywood

Clara Maxie Agent Haywood, 83, longtime resident of Riverside Drive, died Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at The Arbors of Willow Springs in Spring Hill. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 10:00 A.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Bailey officiating. A private family burial will follow in Knob Creek Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday from 9:00 - 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Clarence Henry Agent and Virginia Hammox Agent. She was married to John Mayberry Haywood who preceded her in death on February 19, 1997. Mrs. Haywood was a 1949 graduate of Columbia Central High School where she was a member of the Varsity Basketball Team. She assisted her husband in their business, Johnie Haywood Bulldozer Works. Her favorite pastimes include sewing, gardening and growing flowers. Mrs. Haywood was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include her daughters, Jane Counts of Columbia and Lynn Taylor of Paris, Tennessee; brother, Harold (Patricia) Agent of Columbia; grandchildren, Melissa (Troy) Hughes of Columbia; Jeremy Taylor of Paris; Levi Taylor of Nashville; great grandchildren,Lauren Hughes, Madalyn Hughes, and Jaxson Taylor and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, John Clarence Haywood and a sister, Rebecca West. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
