Born January 14, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of the late William Gordon Hickman and the late Bertie Mae Weatherford Hickman. A wonderful husband, father, grandfather, “pawpaw”, brother, uncle, and friend, Mr. Hickman loved his family, friends, animals, and life. He had a great sense of humor and loved playing pranks on his grandchildren. An avid and successful outdoorsman and sportsman, Mr. Hickman enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing basketball and softball, where he was an MVP. He played travel softball, was instrumental in starting the Culleoka Summer Softball League, where he coached, played, umpired, and played in the Old Timer’s game annually. Last year, he threw the first pitch, despite the need for assistance to get on the field. Always a believer in supporting our home state, he was loyal to the UT Vols, whether they were winning or losing. He managed the building of the new Culleoka Fire Hall with the help of volunteers. He was a charter member of the Culleoka FFA Alumni. Mr. Hickman was a member of Culleoka Church of Christ and was a faithful Christian to the end.
