View Video Tribute View Funeral Webcast Mildred Gilliam Hargrove, 86, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at her residence on Snow Creek Road. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Oakes & Nichols with Bob Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in Sparkman Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. Mildred was born in Maury County and reared in Williamson County. She was the daughter of the late Henry L. Gilliam and Delsie Ervin Gilliam. As a young woman, Mildred moved to Ypsilanti, Michigan where she worked at Willow Run Bomber Plant making B-24 Bomber World War II planes. She later moved back to Williamson County where she met and married her husband, Charlie Lowin Hargrove who preceded her in death on May 8, 1992. An avid seamstress, Mrs. Hargrove had worked at Dixie Manufacturing, Edric Shirt Factory and retired from Publix Shirt Factory. She was a longtime member of Theta Church of Christ. Mrs. Hargrove enjoyed working in her yard and flowers. She also loved going to auctions. Survivors include one daughter, Teresa (Ed) King of Santa Fe; son-in-law, Mike Shouse of Santa Fe; six grandchildren, Angela Morton, Troy Hargrove, Christy (Johnny) Cates, Michael Shouse, Harold W. (Janice) Hargrove, Jr., Trent Mitchell; six great grandchildren, Candice Boyd, Hunter Hargrove, Hannah Hargrove, Kelsey Cates, Parker Shouse, Abbi Hargrove; eight sisters, Mae Turner of Westland, Michigan; Evelyn Andrews of Goodlettsville; Betty (Miles) Johnson of Spring Hill; Lois (Bobby) Baker of Nashville; Opal (Dan) Tucker of Goodlettsville; Shirley (Clyde) Hill of Burns, Tennessee; Dorothy Vaughn of Columbia; Barbara (Thomas) Coleman of Franklin; three brothers, Cecil (Cindy) Gilliam of Westland, Michigan; Charles (Juanita) Gilliam of Burns, Tennessee; Norris Dwain Gilliam of Centerville; two sisters-in-law, Vera Gilliam and Lillie Mae Gilliam; one brother-in-law, William Hargrove; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Shouse; one son, Harold Wayne Hargrove; one sister, Doris Elaine Gilliam; two brothers, J. B. Gilliam and James "Buster" Gilliam. Active pallbearers will be James Andrews, Dale Andrews, Robert Andrews, Tracey Gilliam, Gary Hill, and Jimmy Gilliam. Honorary pallbearers will be other nephews and friends. The family wishes to thank everyone for their prayers, food, calls, and visits; and express a special thank you to Carolyn Baxter, Tammy Crafton, Barbara Coleman and staff of Hospice Compassus.
