View Video TributeView Funeral Webcast Mildred Neal Barnes Luna Moore, 86, resident of Porter Circle, died Friday, December 3, 2010 at NHC Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11:00 a.m. at First United Pentecostal Church on Baker Road. Brother Telford Tharp and Rev. Jason Keyser will be officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols and after 10:00 a.m. Monday at the church. Born in Augusta, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Alpha Omega Barnes and Ruby Cloy Barnes. For several years she was manager of Russell Stover Candies in Houston, Texas. When she moved to Columbia she took the position as secretary for James Bratton State Farm Insurance Company and later was bookkeeper for Trumbal Asphalt Company. Mrs. Moore was a faithful member of First United Pentecostal Church. She loved fishing and was an avid bird watcher. Survivors include her son, Alvin (Malinda) Luna of Columbia; sister, Zelma (Willie) Thomas of Jacksonville, Florida; sister-in-law, Louise Barnes of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, John Tyler Luna, James David Cummings, Jr., William Eugene Cummings, and Beth Moser; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Elgin Tyler Luna in 1967 and Elijah J. Moore in 2002; a son, John Wayne Luna; sister, Ethlene Davis; brothers, Alvin Fletcher Barnes and Robert Barnes. Active pallbearers are Lewis West, Calvin Dodd, Ricky Conner, Ron Richardson, Thomas Holt, and Ralph Spann. Honorary pallbearers include staff of NHC Healthcare and Caris Hospice and C. T. Johnson.
