Mildred Hoover Orr, 86, former resident of Nashville Highway, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Belcourt Terrace in Nashville. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Wayne B. Hardison officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Samuel "Pap" Hoover and Alma Lee Regen Hoover McMeen. She was a former long-time member of Riverside Church of Christ. She was married February 15, 1947 to Wyndol Orr. Following Mr. Orr's death August 9, 2002, she moved to Nashville to make her home. Mrs. Orr touched many lives and will be remembered for her smile, loving ways, and wonderful cooking. Survivors include her children, Larry (Diana) Orr of Houston, Texas, Robert (Gwin) Orr of Antioch, and Barbara (Gary) Seibert of Franklin; loving sister, Lucille Hoover Watson of Columbia; brother, Sam Hoover of Kerrville, Texas; half-brother, J. P. McMeen of Columbia; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Nettie Walker Hoover, Jo Ann Hoover, Meredith Melanie Hoover; brothers, Watt Watson Hoover, William Eugene Hoover;and half-sisters, Maude Hoover Lovell, Ruth Delk Lovell. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
