View Funeral Webcast Mrs. Mildred Viola Long Walker Wright, 90, homemaker, died Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at her residence in Poplar Estates. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Eddie Rogers officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 12:00 - 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at Forrest Cemetery Chapel in Gadsden, Alabama with Norman Flynn officiating. Condolences may be offered online at www.oakesandnichols.com. A native of Rockmart, Georgia, Mrs. Wright was the daughter of the late Virgil Middleton Long and Monteel Virginia Mullins Long. She was married to Buell "Bill" Wright who preceded her in death. Mrs. Wright was a member of Central Church of Christ in Gadsden, Alabama. Survivors include daughter, Vivian (Walter Leon) Sherrod of Lewisburg; son, Cpl. Colonel Larry (Natalie) Walker of Bradenton, Florida; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Floyd Walker in 2000. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Poplar Estates and Hospice Compassus.
