View Video TributeView Funeral Webcast Minnie Lee Brashears Gibson, 83, retired seamstress and former resident of Brannon Court, died Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Signature Health Care. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday at Oakes & Nichols with Pastor Victor Michael Alley and Pastor Tom Oakley officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Giles County native was the daughter of the late John W. Brashears and Hudie Lee Scott Brashears. She was married to Edward Gibson who preceded her in death on January 24, 1984. She was a graduate of Bodenham High School in Giles County. Mrs. Gibson was employed at Publix Shirt Factory and after her retirement had served as a foster grandparent for Mt. Pleasant Elementary School. She was a member of Columbia Church of God. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Benita Gibson of Murfreesboro; two grandchildren, Wendell Gary Gibson, Jr. of Columbia; Brittany (Joshua) Clemmons of Christiana; one great grandchild, Paige Elizabeth Clemmons of Christiana; four sisters, Clara Dagley, Joanne Musgrove, Linda (Jimmy) Hendrix, and Faye (William) Dugger, all of Lawrenceburg; one brother, Loyd Brashears of Watertown; special friends, Mary Turner of Columbia; Donna Bayne of Leoma; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Gary Gibson who died in 2006; and two sisters, Frances Reed and Helen Brashears.
