Miss Pina Kathleen Cook, former resident of Paul Drive, died Monday, February 27, 2012 at NHC Hillview. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Ezell Rose officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Hassell Cook, Sr. and Clara Moore Cook and step-daughter of the late, Corrine Moore Cook. She was a 1935 graduate of Columbia Central High School and attended Columbia Business College. Miss Cook worked for 19 1/2 years for the Tennessee Knitting Mills and later for Shapiro's Farm Supply and Rehabilitation Corporation of Tennessee. She was a long-time member of Riverview Baptist Church. Survivors include a sister, Mary Cook Walters of Columbia; a niece, Barbara Gail Moon at Atlanta, Georgia; nephews, Thomas A. Cook of Oregon, Larry E. Walters of Columbia and Mark E. Cook of Muscle Shoals, Alabama; several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas H. Cook, Jr. and Jack E. Cook; sister-in-law, Mildred Sharp "Mickey" Cook; and a niece, Sherry Lynn Cook Belvin. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
