View Funeral WebcastMr. Louchies Monroe McMeen, 92, retired farmer and resident of Carters Creek Pike, died Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Veteran's Hospital in Nashville. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Peery officiating. Burial will follow in West Point Cemetery with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to West Point Cemetery Fund, c/o Doug Williams, 206 Carters Creek Pike, Columbia, TN 38401. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Obion County native was the son of the late Henry Hadley McMeen and Lettie Fields McMeen. On December 13, 1947 he married Ava Beckum McMeen who preceded him in death February 26, 2008. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. McMeen was a member of West Point Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Survivors include a son, David (Mary Jo) McMeen of Columbia; six grandchildren, Donya (Jonathon) Golden of Lawrenceburg, Emily (Carl) Sanders, Lisa Vaughn, Renee (Charlie) Fitzgerald, Loretta Green, Jason (Karen) Martin all of Columbia; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ellen Caroline West of Columbia, Martha Lorraine Whitten of Lawrenceburg; daughter-in-law, Jackie McMeen of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry McMeen. Pallbearers will be Johnny West, Jeffery West, Ben West, J.C. West, Jr., Roger Pilkinton, Joe McClure and Doug Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of West Point Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Doctors, Nurses and Staff of Nashville Veteran's Hospital; Enoch George, Clyde Yeager, L. M. Coffee, Edward Wauford and the Clint Damron family.
