View Video TributeView Funeral Webcast Thomas Edison "Tom" Vincent, 79, former longtime resident of East 17th St., died Monday, July 4, 2011 at his residence on Mockingbird Drive in Mt. Pleasant. Funeral services will conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The Giles County native was the son of the late Commodore Washington Vincent and Lucille Darnell Vincent. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was employed by the City of Columbia in the Rabies Control division and later retired from the Maury County Solid Waste Department. Mr. Vincent was a member of the Mule Town Motorcycle Club. He loved riding his motorcycle, fishing, playing his guitar and singing. He was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of fifty-nine years, Katie Mae McNeese Vincent of Mt. Pleasant; three daughters, Brenda Kay Austin of the Rover Community, Debra Ann (William) Whitwell of Ethridge, Lotte Gower of Mt. Pleasant; son, Thomas Wayne "Arab" (Carolyn) Vincent of Savannah; brother, Benjamin Franklin (Venus) Vincent of Pulaski; sister, Dorothy "Dot" (Bill) Shepard of Columbia; seven great-grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and his pet cocker spaniel, Blondie. He was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Blair. Pallbearers include Frank James, Jeramey Hedrick, John Vincent, Jon Eavey, Wayne Vincent, and Austin Cagle.
