View Funeral Webcast Vance G. Anderson, 77, retired paint contractor, died Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at his residence on Parkwood Drive in Mt. Juliet. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Godwin Chappell Cemetery with military honors provided by the U. S. Navy. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 12:00 - 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Maury County native was the son of the late Lennie D. Anderson and Mary Myrtle Madden Anderson. He served as a Gunner's Mate in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He received the Vietnam Service Medal with 5 Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Unit Commendation and the Navy Achievement Medal. He was a member of the Mt. Juliet Church of Christ. Survivors include one daughter, Jackie Anderson of San Diego, California; one sister, Mrs. June Meriwether of Mt. Juliet; half-sister, Mrs. Mary Calhoun of Clarksville; nephew, Joel Meriwether of Mt. Juliet; honorary granddaughter, Cassondra Martin of Mt. Juliet; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by one sister, Beverly Anne Anderson Meriwether. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
