Mrs. Blanche Lillian Settlemire Wiesman, 102, retired school teacher and resident of Sunnyside Drive, died Monday, January 24, 2011 at Alterra Sterling House. Funeral services will be conducted at 10am Friday at Alexander East Funeral Home in Evansville, Indiana. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Evansville. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6 - 8p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to James K. Polk Home, 810 S. High St., Columbia, TN 38401. A native of Evansville, Indiana she was the daughter of the late Thomas Charles Settlemire and Mary Elizabeth Christian Settlemire. She was married to Harold James Wiesman, Sr. her husband of fifty-seven years who preceded her in death February 14, 1991. Mr. Wiesman was a well known principal within the Evansville school system. Mrs. Wiesman was a graduate of Bosse High School in Evansville and earned her Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Education at the University of Evansville. She taught in Evansville schools, including Howard Roosa, Rhinelander and Highland Schools, for thirty-six years retiring from Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation in 1972. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and educator who spent her life caring for others. She was a member of Methodist Temple Church in Evansville. Survivors include two sons, Dr. H. James Wiesman, Jr. of Columbia, Thomas D. (Valerie) Wiesman, Sr. of Franklin; four granddaughters Linsie Neale Wiesman, Evelyn Lawrence Wiesman (Chris) Booth, Linden Hume Wiesman (Greg) Ryan, Stratton Jameson Wiesman; one grandson, Thomas Daniel (Rebecca) Wiesman, Jr.; and five great-grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. James Fitts, Dr. Steve Simmons, Campbell Ridley, Dr. Raiborn McGee, Dr. Dennis McGee, Bill Thorne, Deborah Patterson, Jennifer Camron, Carrie Angus and Joanna Uzzell.
