Mrs. Evelyn Edwards Truelove, 90, died Thursday, May 6, 2010 at her residence in Benton Hall. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at Westminster PresbyterianChurch with Rev. Homer L. "Buddy" Roberts officiating. Private family interment will be in Morton Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to service time at the church. The family suggests memorials to Pet Pals of Maury County, P. O. Notes of sympathy may be sent to www.oakesandnichols.com.Born and reared in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late Manuel Wesley Edwards and Lorena Atkeisson Edwards. She was a 1938 graduate of Columbia Central High School and attended Columbia Business College.On April 30, 1946, she married Gilly C. Truelove, long-time Columbia groceryman. She assisted him for a number of years in operation of Tucker's Grocery and later Gilly's Market and was retired from the pharmacy at Maury Regional Medical Center. She loved entertaining, was an excellent cook, and operated a tea room in her home for several years. As a child she joined the former Garden Street Presbyterian Church. She and her family were charter members of its successor, Westminster Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir for many years and served several terms as an Elder. Mrs. Truelove was a member of the James K. Polk Memorial Association and Maury Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, loved music, and was an avid bridge player. Survivors include a daughter, Sue Coleman Truelove (Tom) Benson of Knoxville; sons, Jeff (Angie) Truelove of Franklin and Steve (Laura Lee) Truelove of Culleoka; sister, Dot Edwards Murphy of Columbia; grandchildren, Suzanne (Jeff) Jordan and Laura Truelove, Dylan Benson, Bryan Benson, and Casey Truelove; six great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Caleb, Jacob, Wesley, Jackson, and Emma Grace; several nieces and nephews, and devoted friend and caregiver, Karen Pierce. The family expresses deepest appreciation to Jason Stanage and Jeremy Tosh, Maury Regional Ambulance Service EMTs and the Wound Center staff at Maury Regional Medical Center for their care and concern during her illness.
