View Funeral Webcast Mrs. Irene Davis Bland, 97, former resident of Columbia and widow of John Wilburn Bland, died Monday, August 1, 2011 at her residence on Oak Haven Drive in Gallatin where she had made her home for the past several years. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Elmer Crosby officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. A native of Limestone County, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late James William Davis and Eula Jane Heard Davis. She was a member of Mooresville Pike Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Bruce Wayne (Sherri) Bland of Gallatin; one sister, Mrs. Evelyn Craig of Columbia; ten grandchildren, Sheila Barnes of Dyersberg, Leticia (Allen) Clark of Dyersberg, Sonya (Tony) Cissell of Newberg, Indiana, Shannon (Ronnie) Taylor of Gallatin, Vickie Bland Parker of Spring Hill, Monty (Brenda) Bland of Columbia, Mark (Tracy) Bland of Columbia, Julie Bland (Jason) Martin of Columbia, Michael (Linda) Bland of Columbia, and Rhonda (Todd) Purtle of Spring Hill; eighteen great- grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons, Billy Gene Bland and J. W. "Jim" Bland, and two sisters, Myra Ervin and Frances Reaves. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
