View Funeral WebcastMrs. Mary Ann Westmoreland Tidwell, 79, retired employee of South Central Bell and former resident of the Mooresville Pike, died Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at Life Care Center of Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Greg Daimwood officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Clarence Westmoreland and Elizabeth Troope Westmoreland. She was married to Robert T. Tidwell who preceded her in death on February 5, 2008. Mrs. Tidwell was a 1949 graduate of Columbia Central High School. She retired after thirty years service at the South Central Bell and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She was also a member of the Maury Regional Hospital Auxiliary and enjoyed square-dancing with the Wagon Wheelers. She was a member of Ephesus Church of Christ. Survivors include one sister, Jean Westmoreland (Roy) Johnson of Columbia; one niece, Suzanne (Jim) Curl of Lawrenceburg; and four nephews, Vic (Cathy) Quinn of Conway, Arkansas; Michael Quinn of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; Tony (Mary) Shires of Pulaski, and Mike (Sam) Shires of Columbia. Pallbearers will be Bryan Quinn, J. Curl, Wayne Troope, Wayne Voss, David Shires, Dan Shires, Chris Hughes, and Matt Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Ephesus Church of Christ, Telephone Pioneers, CHS Class of 1949, Mooresville Pike neighbors, "Going OutTo Eat" crew, Wendell Westmoreland, Ray Westmoreland, Jack Westmoreland, Doug Burgett, Mike Ervin, Jason Hardison, and Hayden McClure.
