View Video TributeView Funeral Webcast Mrs. Mattie Lou Harris Dalton, 97, former co-owner of Dalton Bros. Grocery in Spring Hill and former resident of Chester Ave. in Spring Hill, died Monday, January 24, 2011 at Life Care Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. David Sawyer officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill City Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4 - 8 p.m. and Thursday from 1p.m. until time of service at the service. On December 24, 1936 she married David Wilson Dalton who preceded her in death May 12, 1996. She was a member of Spring Hill Presbyterian Church. Survivors include three daughters Mrs. Alice (Galen) Pierce of Spring Hill, Mrs. Anne (Rueben) Pruitt of Columbia, Mrs. Margaret (James) Sparks of Lynnville; one sister Mrs. Cynthia Prince of Columbia; one brother George Douglas (Betty) Harris of Tennessee Ridge; six grandchildren David Pruitt, Darrell (Shirley) Pruitt, Doug (Tammi) Pruitt, Jamie (Linda) Pierce, Galen W. "Sunny" Pierce, Ellen (Will) Farris; eleven great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Annie Harris Dalton, Jewel Harris Thomason and three brothers Arthur Harris, Charlie Harris and Ewell Harris. Pallbearers will be David Pruitt, Darrell Pruitt, Doug Pruitt, Jamie Pierce, Galen W. "Sunny" Pierce, Chad Pierce and Will Farris.
