Mrs Rebecca Collins Gibbs

November 23, 1920 — July 26, 2011

Rebecca Collins Gibbs, 90, widow of Joe A. Gibbs and resident of Hampton Road, died Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Life Care Center. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Oakes & Nichols with Rev. Gene Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 4:00 to- 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. The Marshall County native was the daughter of the late Floyd Collins and Ruth Bigham Collins. She was a homemaker and member of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church. Survivors include sons, Jackie C. (Donna) Gibbs and Joe Don (Sharon) Gibbs both of Columbia; grandchildren, Courtney (Gary) Love of Columbia, David Gibbs of Virginia, Kenneth C. (Karen) Gibbs of Memphis, Grace Gibbs of Spring Hill; four great-grandchildren; and special friends, Margaret Stanfill and Frances Smith. She was preceded in death by a brother, Don Collins. Pallbearers will be Kenny Gibbs, David Gibbs, Dylan Wilson, Austin Stanfill, Ricky Rich, Ricky Stanfill, Dr. B.I. Naddy, Sammy Naddy and Wayne Stacy.
