Ruby Ladd Curtis, 75, retired supervisor at Cosmolab and resident of Pulaski Highway, died Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Gleaves officiating. The family will visit with friends Saturday after 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1864, Columbia, TN, 38402. Notes of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.oakesandnichols.com. Mrs. Curtis was born in Maury County on December 14, 1935 to the late Thomas Newton Ladd and Jessie Ophelia Whitaker Ladd. She was a 1954 graduate of Santa Fe High School and a former long time resident of Lewisburg. She was married to George Edward Curtis who preceded her in death March 1, 1987. Mrs. Curtis was a member of Northside Baptist Church. Survivors include her sister, Doris (James) Cranford of Columbia; sister-in-law, Dorothy Ladd of Columbia; nieces and nephews, Charles (Carol) Murphy, Tom (Jennifer) Murphy, Bonnie (John) Chadwell, Debbie Alley all of Columbia, Susan (Mike) Fitzgerald of Virginia, Melinda (Curly) Bradford of Lewisburg and Shane Bradford of Columbia; and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Newton "Billy" Ladd and two sisters, Ruth Ladd Smith and Janie Ladd Parrish. Honorary pallbearers include members of Santa Fe Class of 1954 and members of the Northside Baptist Church "Lead On" Adult Sunday School Class.
